walnutsA walnut allergy is a form of diet-induced food allergy that affects thousands of persons around the world. Like in other cases of allergies to the nuts, this can lead to vomiting, the appearance of hives, stomach pain and diarrhea.  In some cases, symptoms are quite mild and manageable keeping in mind that patients may avoid this type of food (nuts) to prevent the occurrence of further allergy symptoms. In severe cases, a walnut allergy can make you feel very sick. Walnut allergies are caused primarily by proteins that are contained in certain nuts to also include cashew, almonds and pecans.

There are many instances where allergies are hereditary in nature and are passed on from generation to generation. For instance there are families where walnut allergy is passed on in the genes for parents to children and so on and so forth. These are observations that have been recorded and documented by medical science empirically over the years. These are also influence by age, gender as well as race of patients. But it is wrong to attribute allergies only to hereditary factors as there are quite a few environment related factors also that result in an allergy developing.

While most symptoms due to a nut allergy are generally mild and manageable in nature, in some cases, could lead to severe dehydration, diarrhea, respiratory distress and even blood pressure variations which are harmful to health.  Walnut allergies are certainly not a condition one can afford to play with, since severe reactions can lead to an asthmatic type reaction leading to death.
